چکیده

A spectral line inversion code, Very Fast Inversion of the Stokes Vector (VFISV), has been used since May 2010 to infer solar atmospheric parameters from spectropolarimetric observations taken by Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager (HMI) aboard Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO). The magnetic filling factor, fraction surface with a resolution element occupied field, is set have constant value one in current version VFISV. This report describes an improved strategy for data observed HMI field strengths intermediate values areas spatially not fully resolved. VFISV code modified enable profiles two different components: non-magnetic. In this scheme, both components share except strength, inclination, azimuth. order determine whether new useful, we evaluate inferred inverted component (the original inversion) version) using Bayesian analysis. pixels (e.g. plages), provides statistically significant vector. Not only does fitting profile improve, but inference line-of-sight velocity are obtained uniquely. also proven be effective mitigating anomalous hemispheric bias east-west moderate regions.

The Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager (HMI) Vector Magnetic Field Pipeline: Optimization of the Spectral Line Inversion Code

The Very Fast Inversion of the Stokes Vector (VFISV) is a Milne–Eddington spectral line inversion code used to determine the magnetic and thermodynamic parameters of the solar photosphere from observations of the Stokes vector in the 6173 Å Fe I line by the Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager (HMI) onboard the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO). We report on the modifications made to the original VF...

Magnetic Field Vector Retrieval with the Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager

We investigate the accuracy to which we can retrieve the solar photospheric magnetic field vector using the Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager (HMI) that will fly onboard of the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) by inverting simulated HMI profiles. The simulated profiles realistically take into account the effects of the photon noise, limited spectral resolution, instrumental polarization modulati...

The Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager (HMI) Vector Magnetic Field Pipeline: Magnetohydrodynamics Simulation Module for the Global Solar Corona

Time-dependent three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) simulation modules are implemented at the Joint Science Operation Center (JSOC) of the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO). The modules regularly produce three-dimensional data of the time-relaxed minimum-energy state of the solar corona using global solar-surface magnetic-field maps created from Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager (HMI) ful...
